UFC star Mark “Super Samoan” Hunt, 43, took to Facebook on May 28, 2017 to share a video of his friends performing the traditional Haka warrior chant. One of them was “Game of Thrones” alum Jason Momoa, 37, while the others were members of the UFC team in Auckland, New Zealand.
The Haka was done in support of Hunt, who is set to fight Derrick Lewis at “UFC Fight Night 110” on June 10 at Vector Arena, Auckland. The match is the main event among 12 fights.
In the video, Momoa is seen wearing a pair of shorts paired with a white tie-up drawstring at the waist. His fans will easily recognize him in it with his signature long hair.
Apparently, Momoa took a break from filming “Aquaman” to be with the UFC Auckland Team. The “Game of Thrones” alum has been in Queensland, Australia, to film the superhero movie with Nicole Kidman and Amber Heard.
Directed by James Wan, “Aquaman” is set to be released in 2018, which is more than six years since he played Khal Drogo in “Game of Thrones.” After his exit from the HBO show, he went on to star in “The Red Road,” “Drunk History” and “Frontier,” where he has been playing Declan Harp since 2016.
Momoa was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and was raised in Norwalk, Iowa. His father is Native Hawaiian while his mother is German, Irish and Native American.
Hunt, on the other hand, was born into a large Samoan family in South Auckland. He has been a UFC fighter since 2010.
Currently, Hunt has a record of 12 wins, 11 losses and 1 draw. His “UFC Fight Night 110” opponent, Lewis, has 18 wins, 4 losses and 0 draw.
